Saxo-famille - Album Art Design
This project involved creating the album art for Saxo-famille's latest release. The design concept centers around a warm, inviting aesthetic to reflect the artist's home studio recording and personal connection to their music.
To achieve this, I employed several key elements:
Selective Watercolor Effect: The background image was digitally manipulated with a watercolor effect to create a soft, artistic feel, while keeping the focus on the artist and their saxophones. This technique adds a unique visual interest and complements the overall design.
Hand-drawn Calligraphy: The title logo features custom hand-drawn calligraphy, adding a personal touch and reinforcing the warm, inviting aesthetic. Subtle details, such as hidden saxophone imagery within the calligraphy, add a playful element.
House-shaped Frame: The front cover utilizes a house-shaped frame to further emphasize the "home studio" concept and create a sense of intimacy and comfort.
Color Palette: A vibrant yellow base, combined with the watercolor effect, creates a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere. The CD artwork uses a similar watercolor effect but with a more vibrant color palette for contrast.
Integrated Booklet: Instead of a separate booklet, the liner notes are integrated into the CD jacket, providing a cohesive and compact design.
Saxophone Spotlights: Beneath the CD tray, individual saxophone setups are detailed. This section features cutouts of the saxophones from the cover photo, reimagined with the watercolor effect for visual consistency.
This project was a rewarding exploration of digital image manipulation and graphic design techniques. The final product effectively captures the artist's personality and the essence of their music.
